KARACHI: Yet another leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has come forward lamenting the party’s lack of interest in the metropolis.

Aftab Jehangir, who was elected as Member National Assembly (MNA) from NA-252 Karachi West 5, said, “It does not matter whether it is Karachi or Islamabad, we have always been neglected.”

He added that regardless of whether it is a meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) or a visit to the Idara Noor-e-Haq, “no one ever asks about us.”

The MNA urged PTI’s presidential candidate Dr Arif Alvi to look into the matter. Jehangir had secured 21,065 votes defeating MQM-P’s Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada who got 17,858 votes.

Earlier in the same day, PTI Karachi leadership had said it is working to address concerns of the party’s MNA Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain. MNA Najeeb Haroon had said that the party has contacted Aamir Liaquat after differences between him and the party intensified.

“We contacted Aamir Liaquat and he will vote for Dr Arif Alvi in the presidential election on September 4,” Haroon said.

On August 28, Liaquat had expressed anger with the party for not being invited to a dinner hosted at the Sindh Governor’s House. PTI Karachi President Shamim Naqvi said, “Aamir Liaquat had no reason to be upset as there was no dinner at the Governor’s House.”

Meanwhile, PTI Senator Faisal Javed said some people were saying things against the party after failing to get a ministry.

“Even if PM Imran had nominated a pole instead of Aamir Liaquat, it would have won,” he had stated. Further, PTI MNA Faisal Vawda also flayed Aamir Liaquat for his comments against the party and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The televangelist and TV host had won from the NA-245 constituency on a PTI ticket, bagging 56,615 votes against MQM-P’s Dr Farooq Sattar.
