Deputy Superintendent of Police is yet to conclude an inquiry to find out where the gambling incident involving a transgender occurred, while the inquiry of a First Information Report (FIR) against the transgender was marked by the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, local media reports have informed.

An FIR was registered against transgender Laila and nine others in New Town Police Station On August 13, which stated that a raid at Malya Park was conducted on information and 10 persons including transgender Laila were found gambling. All the accused were arrested.

However, Laila claimed that Head Constable Ezat Shah, Asif Satti and three others came to her residence in plain clothes and took Rs 700,000 as well as 10 mobile phones from her and her guests who were there to celebrate her birthday.

Later, transgender persons staged a protest demonstration in front of the CPO office against the wrong filing of the FIR.

The CPO marked the inquiry of the matter to the New Town DSP Malik Muhammad Usman. However, despite the passage of two weeks, the DSP has yet to conclude the inquiry to find out the exact amount taken by the police in their custody and the real location of the incident. DSP Usman said the inquiry will be finalised within two to three days.

According to sources, Malya Park’s evening timings are from 3pm to 9pm, while in the FIR, the police stated that the raid was conducted at 10:30pm, giving rise to questions regarding the credibility of the FIR.

When contacted, Investigation Officer Habibur Rahman said that he can’t reveal his version to the media. He, however, has the evidence to prove the FIR in the court.
