The Pakistan Fashion Design Council enters its 12th year as Pakistan’s pioneering fashion institution and a renowned, prestigious platform for existing designers as well as upcoming talents.

Conceived with the aim to support Pakistani designers, the PFDC is indeed a facilitating platform for the designers with a clear-cut vision for creating synergy between craft, the corporate world, designer and the end consumer. PFDC believes in long-term institutional growth over a one-off show platform with a vision to strengthen each brand within Pakistan through structure, discipline and sustainability.

Playing a key role in Pakistani fashion since its inception, the PFDC has continued its pioneering commitment over the years of introducing fresh and exciting upcoming talent to the industry, with dedicated debut shows serving as a launchpad for many young talents including Ali Xeeshan, Fahad Hussayn, Mahgul, Akif Mehmood, Mohsin Ali, Hira Ali, Zonia Anwar and Hussain Rehar to name a few.

Pakistan’s leading and established fashion powerhouses such as Sania Maskatiya, Misha Lakhani, Kamiar Rokni, Élan, Nida Azwer and Shamsha Hashwani are also among many who opted to showcase some of their first ramp show collections through PFDC fashion weeks to expand their brands. As the spokesperson for PFDC, Kamiar Rokni of The House of Kamiar Rokni said: “To be a part of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week means to be presented at the best platform for bridal couture in the country. The event stands for excellence in fashion and it is an honour and privilege to be a part of this. As usual, we are very excited to be presenting this year.”

The PFDC’s dedication to scout and showcase some of Pakistan’s most impactful designers to the fashion industry has given birth to many contemporary fashion stars and manifested in the constant development and growth of its highly anticipated fashion weeks.

Nurtured and mentored by PFDC, the young designers launched through this platform have all grown remarkably as iconic brands, leaving an exemplary mark in the Pakistani fashion industry itself as well as representing the country on global platforms.

The PFDC has introduced burgeoning talents to the Pakistani fashion industry and paved the way for them to create a credible name for themselves including Ali Xeeshan showcasing his commendable collections in the US, Zonia Anwar handpicked amongst a few regional designers to compete for the International Woolmark Prize, Hira Ali creating her own design studio after apprenticing with a leading Pakistani brand and Mohsin Ali joining Sana Safinaz as a creative head.

The PFDC is an exemplary, one-of-a-kind institution in Pakistan, lauded for their commercial success and their ability to consistently work year after year with supporting partner brands including L’Oréal Paris, Sunsilk, Borjan, Aquafina and Diet Pepsi to name a few, with continued patronage since the inception of the Council, exhibiting a strong partner longevity and continuous commitment to supporting the development of Pakistan’s fashion and retail industry through the PFDC platforms.

The PFDC also takes all its supporting partner brands to a global scale with their dedicated Media Relations Department, streamlining media’s access to the PFDC as well as creating greater awareness of the Council’s numerous ongoing initiatives along with enhanced access of both local and international journalists to Pakistani designers and the burgeoning Pakistani fashion industry.

This September marks the Council’s 8th successive bridal week in partnership with the world’s leading beauty brand, L’Oréal Paris, impacting the fashion and beauty trends alike nationwide. As Pakistan’s most anticipated bridal event, PLBW marks a platform that most sought after as a leader within the bridal industry since its inception, from defining entire bridal trousseaus alongside seasonal hair and makeup looks for weddings to jewellery trends as well.

The PFDC serves as the most impactful platform for brands to launch their transforming initiatives and grow on a global scale as witnessed last year at PLBW was a historic moment, the PFDC serving as a launchpad for L’Oréal Paris to announce Mahira Khan as their Hair Care Spokesperson, followed by Mahira Khan representing the brand at the Cannes Film Festival.

Indeed, the Council’s perennial fashion event; the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Weeks [PLBW] is now an industry mainstay. PFDC has retained the top-notch quality of Pakistani fashion and beauty to be seen on the ramp, marking accessibility selectively for the designers who showcase a visible commitment to quality in their work.
