While speaking during his talk show Muqabil, Mateen explained, “Ex-DPO Rizwan Gondal and Sahiwal Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sharik Kamal Siddiqui were asked to visit the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar’s office.”

“The officers were asked to make haste and visit CM Buzdar’s office late on the third day of Eid,” the senior journalist said.

Mateen revealed, “Upon the officers’ arrival, they found that an unidentified man was seated with the CM who started interrogating them.”

The journalist claimed that the man grilled the former-DPO and questioned, “What is your animosity with the Maneka family?”

According to Mateen, the officers replied, “We do not have personal animosities with anyone and we are public servants.”

Mateen also claimed that the man was highly disrespectful to the officers in uniform.

The journalist also said that the unidentified man directed Gondal to visit Khawar Maneka’s farmhouse and apologise to him.

The officer refused to do this and according to Mateen, “I was not present at the site of the incident and my Jawans  have done nothing wrong, and I refuse to apologise as it is below the dignity of my office.”

Upon hearing this, Mateen explained that the ex-DPO was warned of dire consequences.

The senior journalist also claimed that the general air amongst the senior police establishment was that Gondal should not apologise as he has done nothing wrong.

Mateen explained that following the incident at the Punjab CM’s office, all station house officers (SHOs) in Pakpattan were asked to report to the Punjab inspector general of police’s (IGP) office for inquiry.

Moreover, Gondal was made an officer on special duty (OSD) before the inquiry was completed.

Mateen claimed that the unidentified man at the Punjab CM’s office was Ahsan Jameel Iqbal Gujjar. “His wife enjoys close proximity with the country’s First Lady Bushra Imran,” the anchor claimed.

However, Mateen conceded that he is unsure whether the first lady was involved or not.
