LAHORE: Rickshaw drivers on Tuesday protested against the increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices by burning their rickshaws.

The Awami Rickshaw Union set ablaze two rickshaws in protest at Bund Road and Thokar Niaz Baig. They also announced that the movement would continue until their demands were not fulfilled.

The protesters blocked the Babu Sabu Chowk and Thokar Niaz Baig-Multan Road and demanded the rise in LPG prices be withdrawn immediately.

They said the price of LPG had increased exorbitantly from Rs85 to over Rs185 per kilogram. The protesters blamed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for the rising LPG prices and demanded instant relief.

Awami Rickshaw Union Chairman Majeed Ghauri and LPG distributors also participated in the protest. They announced to protest outside the DCO office on Wednesday (today).
