A woman gave birth to a baby in an ambulance on Friday near village Wadana after being denied admission to three hospitals, a local media outlet reported.
According to her husband Muhammad Liaqat, he first took his wife to Kasur District Headquarters (DHQ) after she went into labour. The duty doctor referred him to take his wife to Lahore General Hospital.
Lahore General Hospital’s gyne ward also refused to admit her saying that the ward was already overcrowded and referred them to Services Hospital, which also denied to admit her. Liaqat rushed back to Lahore General Hospital and requested the staff for help but in vain.
After contacting an employee, her husband decided to take her to a private hospital in Kasur. On the way to Kasur, she gave birth in an ambulance near village Wadana on Ferozepur Road.
Liaqat said that he had to spend a huge amount on the post-delivery treatment. He claimed that although his wife had been regularly visiting the DHQ for the last few months, the doctors never told her that the delivery was not normal. He demanded the chief justice to take notice.
