The Anjuman Himayat-e-Islam (AHI) on Tuesday passed its surplus budget of Rs 2.3 billion with expenditures of Rs 2.24 billion and development budget of Rs 0.4 billion.
The annual budget of the organisation was presented by AHI Honorary Finance Secretary Mian Munir in a meeting presided by AHI President Justice (r) Manzoor Hussani Sayyal. Munir, presenting the budget, said that income of AHI’s 18 institutions is estimated to be Rs 2.29 billion while expenditures stand at Rs 2.24 billion resulting in a surplus of Rs 5.9 million.
The finance secretary said that around 450 boys and girls are taken care of in the AHI Darul Shafqat and Rs 1.7 million will be spent on boys and Rs 1.1 million on girls. He said that the AHI also arranges weddings of girls living in Darul Shafqat after completion of their education. Rs 0.36 million have been allocated for Younani Shifa Khana, which offers free health services to needy people.
Munir revealed that a foreign donor had been contacted for upgrading the Darul Shafqat for boys and the process is expected to start soon. Pakistan Baitul Maal Chairman and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Advocate Zamurd Khan also spoke on the occasion and announced Rs 50,000 for wedding of each girl at the Darul Shafqat for girls.
