FAISALABAD: A five-member committee constituted to probe into the Millat town shooting incident declared police’s claims of ‘crossfire’ as wrong. Police reportedly gunned down two youngsters, Arslan and Usman after they did not stop their bikes at a picket in Faisalabad on August 8.
The committee included senior superintendent police (SSP) Sultan Haider, SSP Syed Nadeem, Madina Town superintendent (SP) Asif Amin, SP Farhat Abbas and Nishatabad DSP Qaiser Mushtaq.
Police had claimed that the boys were shot in a ‘crossfire’ as they were stopped near Bagh wali puli. A case of police encounter was registered against the citizens.
The investigation committee had mentioned that the victims had no previous criminal record and there was no evidence to prove that they had exchanged fire with the police.
