LAHORE: The PPP dissident group has finally announced mutiny against the PPP leadership on charges of deviating from the genuine philosophy of Bhuttos, saying the rebellion intended to save the party from potential disintegration.
“[Asif Ali] Zardari is wrong to think that he can do anything per his aspirations. We have stood up to fight for our rights,” the disgruntled group, led by Senator Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan said on Sunday in a ceremony to mark PPP’s founding day.
PPP MPA Sajida Mir, former MPA Muneera Shakir, Haji Muhammad Nawaz, Usman Cannadi, Benazir Bhutto’s security Incharge Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, PPP Federal Council Member Khushal Abbasi, Khalid Sammu and others addressed the ceremony occasion. Addressing the gathering, Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan came hard on President Zardari for showing criminal negligence in arresting the killers of Benazir Bhutto.
“Three years have passed, but BB’s assassins have not been arrested and the reason is simple that neither the president nor the prime minister want to do so,” they added. They said that BB’s killers were sitting in the ranks of the PPP and demanded the filing of a fresh FIR into the murder. “If the killer constitutes a committee under his supervision, justice can never be served.
The situation in the party is so bad that the biggest killer gets the biggest slot in the party,” they said. They two disgruntled leaders called Zardari’s statement that “democracy was the best revenge” his own perception, saying it had nothing to do with the aspirations of the majority of people associated with the PPP. “As a matter of fact, everyone wants killers of Benazir traced and punished,” they said.
