Actress Humaima Malick has accused a popular hotel in Lahore of harassment and breaching her privacy during her stay.

In a recent post on social media, Humaima shared details of her disturbing experience, whereby various business cards were slipped under her hotel room door after the management leaked details of her stay to the guests.

She alleged that members of the management namely Talha and Ali Imran passed on details of her stay to eager hotel guests wishing to meet her.

“I can’t emphasise this enough as the number of times actresses, models, singers, and performers are made the subjects of harassment,” wrote the actress adding that she can’t recall the number of times “business cards of men have been slipped under the door of [her] hotel room at various well-known and supposedly safe hotels.” She said that a woman’s interest should not be “assumed” and just because she’s from the entertainment industry it does not mean she’s looking “for business cards to be slipped under her door.”

She said that she complained to the hotel management of “unwanted attention and inappropriate probing for business” but they were indifferent to her plight. She accused the management of being “negligent and deliberately involved in breaching my privacy and trust by sharing my personal information with another guest staying at their hotel.” She added that they not only “ignored her concerns,” they also “failed to make her feel safe and secure at their establishment.”

Humaima called for “Mr Talha and Mr Imran to be held responsible” adding that the hotel should be “ashamed and embarrassed for placing unqualified and unprofessional people at the heart of their business.”

Humaima also posted screenshots of messages from a person who wanted to discuss a “business proposal” with her. The person whose details Humaima did not share incessantly messaged her all day, inviting her out to discuss “business” despite receiving no reply from her. He then messaged asking her if she’s okay because he “heard her crying loudly.”

Humaima concluded by saying that she is “sharing my experience because I think its high time when I should come forward and share my experience against harassment and how an educated class also chooses to ignore it and take such important issues lightly.”
