In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Punjab government surrendered two grade-22 officers to the federal government, replacing the additional chief secretary and the senior member board of revenue, Pakistan Today has learnt. The Punjab government repatriated former chief secretary Javaid Mehmood and Senior Board of Revenue member Akhlaq Tarrar, both grade-22 officers, to the federal government. Additional Chief Secretary Sami Saeed, also a Grade-22 officer, has been appointed senior member, Board of Revenue, while Lahore Commissioner Nadeem Hassan Asif, a grade-21 officer, has been made the ACS.
Javaid Mehmood will join his new posting on July 1, Tarar will join on July 17 while Sami Saeed will relinquish the charge of the office of ACS on July 9.
After the reshuffle, the Punjab government will be retaining three grade-22 officers, Chief Secretary Nasir Khosa, P&D Chairman Javaid Aslam and Sami Saeed. The reshuffle is surprising for many as both Javaid Mehmood and Akhlaq Tarar are considered “close” to the Punjab government.
Sources further said both the chief secretary and the ACS were not on good terms while the latter was trying to get the coveted post of the Punjab chief secretary.
