KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar imposed a single-day ban on swimming at the coastal city’s beaches on Sunday under Section 144.
The primary reason cited for the ban were strong winds and high waves as part of the monsoon season.
“Special care should be taken of children when visiting the beaches,” said Akhtar.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) lifeguards have also been directed to stay on alert.
The beaches are a popular spot for approximately 25 million residents of the city during the summers.
