CPEC has potential to create 1.2 million jobs: CPEC Centre of Excellence study

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could assist in the creation of 1.2 million jobs under its presently agreed project, according to a  CPEC Centre of Excellence study, reported a local media outlet.

The study explored CPEC’s various initiatives including energy, infrastructure, Gwadar and industrial cooperation.

Moreover, among the 51,580 labour force being employed for projects pertaining to roads infrastructure only 3,780 are Chinese while the remaining 47,800 are Pakistanis.

In the railways’ sector, the system needs 12,000 labourers as an estimated 8 labourers are required per kilometre.

Moreover, skilled staff required for these projects include signal support staff, electrical engineers, project managers, communication engineers, electricians and civil engineers.
