Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday paid a tribute to the martyred policemen on Youm-e-Shuhada.

In a statement issued on Police Martyrs Day, he said, “Police has rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism. [We] salute the martyrs [who are] the real heroes.”

“While all security forces fight terrorists, police has a greater role in defeating terrorism. We stand with our Police in the national effort,” the army chief said, according to ISPR, the army’s media wing.

Youm-e-Shuhada was observed with great reverence across the country as homage is paid to the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

A ceremony was held to commemorate the sacrifices of brave policemen at Lahore’s Alhamra Hall. Other special activities and events were also held by police departments in other provinces.

On Youm-e-Shuhada, the sacrifices of the police are celebrated annually to honor the fighters of the nation and show solidarity with their families.
