PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and the country’s probable prime minister-in-waiting on August 7, in a case pertaining to the misuse of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s helicopters.
The spokesperson for the NAB KP said that Imran has been asked to appear before the panel on the given date.
NAB is investigating the cricketer-turned-politician for causing Rs2.17 million loss to the provincial exchequer by using KP government’s helicopter for over 74 hours.
Imran was summoned on July 18, however, he failed to appear before the panel sighting electioneering. His lawyer had filed an appeal requesting the accountability watchdog to fix the case after the general elections, “preferably on August 7”.
NAB has already recorded statements of former KP chief minister Pervez Khattak and four senior bureaucrats in the case.
“Statements of former KP chief minister (CM) Pervez Khattak and aviation authorities in the case have been recorded,” the spokesman said.
Khan reportedly used an official MI 171 from Banigala to Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Batagram, Dir and Kumrat.
Moreover, through another helicopter, the PTI chief travelled from Banigala to Peshawar, Kohat, Abbottabad, Haripur, Chitral, Swat and Nowshehra.
