KARACHI: A Karachi accountability court on Tuesday sentenced former logistics assistant inspector general (AIG) Tanveer Hussain Tahir to 10 years in prison in a case regarding the embezzlement of Rs50 million from funds given to police in Sindh.
Moreover, the court also imposed on the former AIG a fine of Rs25 million.
The reference against the former AIG had been filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and claimed that the former top cop had made bogus bills regarding fuel allowance to get the huge amount of funds.
NAB noted, “After receiving fuel allowance, money used to be transferred to head constable Mohammad Rafique’s account.”
Furthermore, the court exonerated former finance AIG Syed Fida Hussain Shah.
