GUJRAT: After making seat adjustment with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) has won at least eight seats in Punjab and is all set to raise Pervaiz Elahi’s candidacy for the post of chief minister in the province, a local media outlet reported on Friday.
Pervaiz Elahi won two National Assembly and one provincial assembly seats.
A senior leader from PML-Q explained that precedent exists where leader of a small party is accepted as chief minister by the larger party. He cited the case of PML- Junejo’s Mian Manzoor Wattoo who became the chief minister of Punjab despite only having 18 seats against the PPP’s more than 100 seats. The case of PML-Q’s Abdul Qadoos Bezinjo was also cited.
