It takes courage to go against the tide and Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has proven that. In a recent conversation, the young actor shared her thoughts on the term nepotism.
Speaking to Times of India, Bhatt said, “Of late, I have realised that there is no need to defend the nepotistic nature of the industry because it does exist. The reason why it has become an emotional debate is because those who don’t get a chance, it is difficult for them. If I was on the other side, I would be heartbroken. I may have felt the same way.”
“Yes, it does exist everywhere, but this is the only business where there’s no fixed formula. You need to be at the right place at the right time. For instance, if you want to be a doctor, you study, give your examination and get a job. In the film business, you can do whatever you want, but there has to be that X-factor that people talk about.”
Alia was launched by Karan Johar in Student of the Year but she has gone ahead and made a mark in the industry with films such as Highway and Udta Punjab.
Meanwhile, Alia is currently shooting for Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra alongside real-life beau Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar’s production, Kalank. She is also set to appear in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy with Ranveer Singh.
