School heads with poor performances to be charged under PEEDA Act

LAHORE: The public school heads of those schools performed poorly in the recently-announced matriculation annual examinations will be charged under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act 2006.

The District Education Authorities (DEAs) Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been told to prepare a list of the schools in their jurisdiction according to the results of their respective institutions and submit it to the office of the Director Public Instructions (SE) within one week after the declaration of results for further necessary action. Furthermore, the CEOs have been told to take action against the low-performing school heads in their jurisdictions.

According to the letter, the department has prepared six categories for CEOs to divide and report the performance of schools in each of the districts. The first category asks about the number of students who appeared for the annual SSC examination. The second category of schools that had results between zero to 10%. The third is of schools having a success rate of 11 to 25%. The fourth category is of schools that have results below the average result of their respective board. The fifth category enlists schools that scored above the average results of their respective board. The sixth and last category is of schools that have above 80% result.

The matriculation or SSC annual results were announced on July 21 across Punjab by different Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs).
