NADRA ordered to issue all pending CNICs by 24th

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued special instructions to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for issuance and timely delivery of National Identity Cards in order to ensure participation of voters in the 2018 general elections.

According to ECP, NADRA has been directed to immediately process the applications for lost ID cards and issue these without any delay.

Moreover, the ID cards of those citizens should not be confiscated who have applied for changes in particulars until the new cards are issued.

Irrespective of the applications’ category of normal or urgent, the NIC’s should be issued by the 24th of this month.

In April this year, NADRA had increased fee for issuance of all types of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) for overseas Pakistanis.

The revised fee structure was implemented from April 24 onwards across the country.

According to a notification of Nadra, anyone obtaining normal CNIC for the first time will not be charged a single penny, whereas Rs 400 will be charged for renewal or issuance of duplicate cards.

Urgent and executive CNICs can be obtained on payment of Rs1,150 and Rs 2,150, respectively. A new smart identity card will cost Rs750, whereas urgent and executive can be obtained after payment of Rs1,500 and Rs2,500, respectively.
