LHC summons details of FIRs against PML-N workers

LAHORE:  The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought details of FIRs [First Information Report] registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and workers for participating in the rallies to welcome convicted ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

During the hearing, LHC barred police officers from harassing PML-N workers and supporters and directed to hold a proper investigation into the matter.

At least 20 cases were lodged against PML-N leaders and supporters for holding unpermitted rallies to welcome Nawaz Sharif.

FIRs against former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz, Javed Hashmi, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Mushahid Hussain, Uzma Bukhari, Saira Afzal Tarar, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Kamran Michael were registered at Lohari police station.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Talha Barki and Khawaja Salman Rafique were also booked for breaching the code of conduct while cases against Rana Sanaullah, Mian Manan, Rana Afzal, Malik Nawaz and seven PML-N chairmen were also filed in Faisalabad.

In Rawalpindi UC-36 vice chairman of PML-N Gulfraz Khan Jadoon along with dozens of workers was booked following of their arrest on the charges of creating hurdles for Captain (r) Safdar’s arrest.
