PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) General Secretary Sardar Hussain Babak and Deputy General Secretary Aimal Wali Khan on Wednesday urged the caretaker government to provide security to its electoral candidates.
Addressing public gatherings in PK-22 and PK-58, they claimed that certain elements were active to keep ANP away from electioneering. They expressed the party’s resolve to participate in the electoral process vigorously and alleged that the terrorist attack on Haroon Bilour was part of an attempt to push ANP to the wall.
They said the ANP was a representative political party of the Pashtun nation and the party leadership would not bow before the terrorists and continue to work for the welfare of Pashtuns.
They urged Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of the violations being committed by candidates of various political parties in the province.
The ANP leaders also said that after coming to power, the party would bring a green revolution in the province by providing agriculture land and equipment to farmers on easy terms and conditions. “Development work would be initiated across the province without any discrimination,” they added.
Babak said the Pashtuns were mature enough to hold the elements responsible for looting the nation accountable and would vote for ANP for redressing their grievances.
He said ANP would fulfill its pledges of making universities at the district level and colleges in each constituency, besides taking up the matter of KP’s royalty with the federation.
“The party would also pay attention to employment opportunities while providing interest-free loans up to Rs1 million to the youth,” he said.
Aimal Wali Khan, at the occasion, claimed that ANP would take all stakeholders on board in education, health and other sectors to introduce reforms.
