ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Federal Cabinet scheduled for tomorrow will discuss whether to continue holding the trial of former premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar in jail or allow his trial in a court.

According to reports, the caretaker authorities are confused over the matter as they suspect that allowing Nawaz a trial in court will garner a lot of media attention ahead of elections. On the contrary, it is being debated that court trial is not something new in the case as Nawaz and his daughter Maryam have regularly appeared in frequent court proceedings.

The cabinet meeting will also discuss the present law and order situation in the country besides strengthening of institutional infrastructure for anti-money laundering and countering financing for terrorism. Deduction of salary for the donation for construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohamand dams will also be discussed.

The cabinet will also deliberate upon the appointment of a judge for Banking Court-II, Lahore. It will also discuss the withdrawal of the nomination of directors of OGDCL and PPL.

Moreover, the meeting will discuss exemption from the extension of federal taxes to erstwhile FATA.
