RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority has requested Excise and Taxation Department Rawalpindi to provide list of registered property dealers so that action could be initiated against such dealers allegedly involved in illegal sale and purchase of plots in unapproved and illegal housing schemes.

RDA’s Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Director Jamshaid Aftab said that the taxation authorities have been requested not to issue license/register a property dealer without taking an undertaking that he would not involve in sale and purchase of the plots of unapproved and illegal housing schemes.

He said that the Excise Department has also been requested to provide a list of registered property dealers so that action in accordance could be taken against those involved in illegal sale and purchase of plots in unapproved housing schemes. He said that the arrangements were being finalised to upload the layout plans of the approved housing schemes on RDA’s official website to facilitate the citizens.

It would be a great facility for the citizens and they would be able to check online location of the plots in an approved housing scheme even from foreign countries, he added. Earlier, RDA had launched operation to control illegal housing schemes and cases were sent to the sub-registrar and assistant commissioner for legal action, he said.

Jamshaid Aftab said that on the directive of the RDA director general, the cases were sent to the authorities concerned to start formal legal action against illegal housing schemes. RDA was pursuing strict policy to control illegal housing schemes in its jurisdiction and sent letters to all the departments concerned including the State Bank, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, police, utility service departments, PEMRA and advertising companies in an effort to save the citizens from any fraud.
