Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Friday summoned capital city police officer (CCPO) for June 29 on a petition against a sub-inspector (SI) serving secretly at Gulshan-e-Ravi Police Station despite being declared proclaimed offender (PO) by a court in 2008.
Deputy inspector general of police (operations) admitted in court that SI Abdul Shakoor had been serving in the police department despite being declared PO by the court. The SI allegedly worked at the investigation cell of CCPO by hiding his PO declaration. He said the CCPO could explain his position in this regard.
The court directed CCPO to appear in the court on June 29. The court directed additional prosecutor general to convey the direction to the CCPO at the earliest.
Khalida Perveen had filed petition through her counsel Iqbal Bhatti contending that on September 13, 2008 she got an FIR registered against SI Abdul Shakoor under section 155 and 156 of PPC for keeping her two sons in illegal custody and subjecting them to torture during his posting at Police Station Islampura. The SI got bail in the case from court of additional judge, however, he did not appear in the court when proceedings started and the court declared him a PO after a due legal process.
The SI with help of his friends in police prepared and submitted a bogus report in court that he had gone missing. On the other hand, after a secret transfer from Islampura Police Station, he started serving at the investigation cell of the CCPO despite being a PO.
