LAHORE: Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad will be suspended and charge-sheeted by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after reports by an independent review confirmed that he failed in the doping test.
The cricket board Tuesday on its official Twitter wrote: “Independent Review Board Report on doping case has been received by PCB. Cricketer Ahmad Shahzad has tested positive for a banned substance. PCB will issue charge sheet today.”

Earlier, the reports were sent to an Indian lab for re-checking which caused a delay. “Pakistan’s anti-doping agency wanted to be very sure and double-check it because a senior player was involved, hence it asked the Indian lab to re-check the tests, “PCB said.
Last month, the cricket board, without naming any player, confirmed that a player had failed a doping test conducted during a domestic tournament.
“A player has reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance. But under ICC rules PCB cannot name the player or charge-sheet him until the chemical report is CONFIRMED by the Anti-Dope Agency of the government. We should have an answer in a day or two,” the board tweeted on June 20.
