Livestock ministry computerises data of 8 million farmers in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Minister Mian Nauman Kabeer on Friday announced that his department has computerised data pertaining to 8.7 million cattle farmers in the province.

The minister, while presiding over a meeting, said that the department had furthered assistance to not only other provinces but also other countries such as Japan, South Korea and Australia.

During the meeting, officials apprised Minister Kabeer that livestock centres comprised 58.3 per cent of the agricultural centre.

He was also told that farmers in more than 26,000 villages had been given awareness pertaining to various types of diseases that animals carry.

Moreover, the department had also taught the farmers how to employ more efficient methods to increase milk yield.

The department had also established a round-the-clock helpline which offers guidance to farmers, the minister was also told.
