Imran visits rain-hit Lahore after Karachi flight delay

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan visited the rain-hit city of Lahore on Tuesday after his flight to Karachi delayed due to bad weather.

Imran visited different areas accompanied by Dr Yasmin Rashid and Aleem Khan.

Earlier,  Khan’s departure to Karachi for two as part of his election campaign for upcoming general elections scheduled for July 25 has been delayed owing to heavy rain in Lahore.

The PTI chairman was set to depart from Lahore and reach Karachi around noon via a charter flight. However, his arrival in the metropolis is not yet known due to unpredictable weather.

The PTI chairman will tour across the city in the evening on Tuesday and lay the foundation stone of an orphanage in Memon Goth, a party spokesperson reported.

“Imran is scheduled to tour his NA-243 constituency on Tuesday evening,” the spokesperson added.

The cricketer-turned-politician is contesting the general election from NA-243, Karachi which comprises Gulshan-i-Iqbal and parts of Jamshed Quarters. He is also in the poll contest for National Assembly seats from Islamabad, Mianwali, Bannu and Lahore.

On June 24, Imran kicked off his election campaign from Mianwali. Imran then took to Bannu and Sargodha. Moreover, the party has issued the election travelogue for the PTI chief giving details of the places he is to visit as part of the campaign.

The PTI chairman will campaign in 25 cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh in the next 21 days.

Imran will spend 11 days addressing public rallies in 14 different cities of Punjab, according to the travelogue.

After Punjab, the PTI chairman will take to KP where he will campaign for five days in eight different cities.

The PTI chairman’s campaign for the general election will conclude with a “massive rally” scheduled in Islamabad for July 23.
