Former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that rumours about his party’s boycott of the upcoming general elections are absurd.

Dispelling the rumours, Shehbaz pledged to win over the masses by presenting PML-N’s case before them in the general elections. “The people of Pakistan would make their decision known by using the power of the vote,” he said.

Meanwhile, former minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also dismissed rumours of an election boycott and said that only those people who failed to serve the public would boycott the elections.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi heavily criticised PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for hurling baseless allegations at state institutions.

His criticism came during a presser held at the residence of Rajan Bakhsh Gillani in Multan. Commenting on the rumours circulating around PML-N, Qureshi said that boycotting the elections would be the PML-N’s biggest political mistake.
