TANK: Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate for NA-37, Faisal Kareem Kundi, withdrew his candidature in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

It is pertinent to note that Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (JUI-F) Chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman’s son, Asad Mahmood, is also contesting the upcoming general elections from the same constituency.

On the other hand, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) candidate from NA-3 withdrew his papers in favour of former Punjab chief minister (CM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif.

Moreover, candidates for the upcoming general elections were asked by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday to submit party affiliation certificates by June 29.

In order to be allotted party symbols, submission of the party affiliation certificates was mandatory.

Those who would have failed to do so would be considered as independent candidates by the commission.

ECP on Friday had said that as per the election schedule, electoral symbols would be issued to the contesting candidates on Saturday.

According to ECP, all willing candidates throughout the country submitted their withdrawal after which the electoral body started preparing the final list of candidates.

Earlier, after decisions of the appellate tribunals on appeals, the revised list of candidates was published on Thursday.
