LAHORE: Out of 272 constituencies in total, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is reportedly going to contest on 213 National Assembly (NA) seats.
PML-N’s central office said it would announce the complete list of party ticket holders on Saturday.
Moreover, candidates for the upcoming general elections were asked by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday to submit party affiliation certificates by June 29.
In order to be allotted party symbols, submission of the party affiliation certificates was mandatory.
Those who would have failed to do so would be considered as independent candidates by the commission.
ECP on Friday said that as per the election schedule, electoral symbols will be issued to the contesting candidates on Saturday.
According to ECP, all willing candidates have submitted their withdrawal throughout the country after which the electoral body has started preparing the final list of candidates.
Earlier, after decisions of the appellate tribunals on appeals, the revised list of candidates was published on Thursday.
The last date for filing of appeals against the decisions of the returning officers (ROs) rejecting or accepting the nomination papers was June 22.
The appellate tribunals across the country heard and decided the appeals of candidates against rejection and acceptance of nomination papers by June 27.
According to an official of ECP, the date of polling would remain intact and general election 2018 would be held on July 25 as notified earlier, in a free, fair and transparent manner.
He also said that the commission had issued final polling scheme for national and provincial assemblies’ constituencies for the conduct of general elections 2018 in all four provinces and the federal capital.
