PML-N, PPP close aides given lucrative posts in federal bureaucracy

ISLAMABAD: Lucrative postings of the federal bureaucracy have been given to close aides of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), while those considered to be against the said parties have been sidelined, Pakistan Today has learnt.

As per the details, Establishment Division secretary Maroof Afzal has been transferred to the Industry and Production Division, Muhammad Jehanzab Khan has been given the post of Board of Investment secretary, Muhammad Azam that of States and Frontier Region additional secretary (in-charge), Captain (r) Jahanzeb Khan the post of IPC secretary, Arshad Mirza the post of Information secretary, Capt (r) Zahid Saeed that of National Health Services secretary, Rizwan Memon has been posted as the Power Division secretary and Yousaf Nassem Khokhar as the Interior secretary.

Sources informed that the aforementioned officials were considered to be close to the outgoing government as well as the high-ups of PPP and most of them were awaiting posting as they had been asked to report to the Establishment Division ahead of the bureaucracy shake-up in Punjab and Sindh.

In addition to this, Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera has been posted as the Federal Education secretary, Muhammad Ayab Shiekh as Kashmir Affairs and GB Division secretary, Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi as Parliamentary Affairs Division additional secretary (in-charge) while Aurangzeb Haque has been posted as the Establishment secretary.

A close aide of former finance minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Tariq Mehmood Pasha, has also been given the charge of Statistical Division secretary.

Reshuffling among the police service also witnessed similar postings as Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan, Sanaullah Abbasi, Dr Sultan AzamTemuri and Muhammad Aamir Zulfqat Khan have been asked to relieve their respective charges and assume that of Narcotics Control secretary, GB inspector general, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) member and National Highway and Motorway police inspector general, respectively.

Moreover, Sqn Ldr (r) Iqbal Mahmmod and Sabir Ahmed of PSP, previously posted as Narcotics Control Division secretary and GB inspector general, have been transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division with immediate effect.
