The daughter of late prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari has shown support to her father and former president Asif Ali Zardari for bringing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Pakistan.
The 28-year-old turned to Twitter to voice her support and stated, “We all witnessed CPEC in 2013, by we I mean the people of Pakistan including opposition parties.”
She added, “that despite Zardari being responsible for bringing CPEC to Pakistan, no credit was given to him”.
She ended her post with the hashtag #AgliBariPirZardari.
We all witnessed CPEC in 2013, by we I mean the people of Pakistan including opposition parties & media houses but all decided to purposefully take credit away. From 18th Amendment to currency swap with multiple nations to BISP & more #AgliBariPirZardari ? https://t.co/eCsZp5hq1j

She was replying to a tweet by the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Zhao Lijian, who had earlier posted about the Chinese envoy claiming that CPEC was initiated during Zardari’s government in 2013 along with an article.
“Chinese envoy claims CPEC was initiated by China when Zardari was in power in 2013. CPEC is an across-the-board national consensus in Pakistan. CPEC is the most successful project under the BRI,” Lijian tweeted.
