LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on Monday urged the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to investigate former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for alleged corruption.

Addressing a press conference, the PTI spokesperson alleged that the family of the former chief justice was involved in fraud and should be proceeded against by the accountability watchdog.

Fawad also questioned how the former chief justice owns so many properties when he claimed to not be taking any salary during his stint as the top judge.

The former chief justice’s political party, Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, has challenged the nomination papers of several PTI candidates, including party chief Imran Khan.

Continuing his press conference, the PTI spokesperson stated that the party does not accept the caretaker Punjab government’s recent postings and transfers of the “bureaucracy along the GT Road”.

He claimed that the district police officers and deputy commissioners posted are sympathetic to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), adding that the caretaker government did not do its homework while undertaking the recent transfers. He called for the Punjab chief secretary and inspector general to review their decision, otherwise, PTI will go to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Talking about Sindh, the PTI leader said that a similar situation existed in the province where it seems that the bureaucracy has been shuffled around on “Bilawal House’s orders”.

Giving an example, he said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari’s brother-in-law, Fazlullah Pechuho, is still serving in Sindh as a secretary whereas he should have been posted out.

Talking about the PML-N, Chaudhry said that every day, new properties of the Sharif family are being unearthed even though they said they do not own anything.

Fawad also stated that Imran and other members of PTI are praying for Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment in London.

The PTI leader also called for the registration of a case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for allegedly helping former finance minister Ishaq Dar to flee from the country on his plane.
