The Islamabad High Court on Friday gave the Ministry of Defence and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) one week to clear a public road by removing barricades placed in front of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters near Aabpara.

Officials of the defence ministry informed the court that the road was blocked due to security reasons, while adding that the intelligence agency had also included 40 kanals of green belt in its premises.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui said in his order that the security agency should only take measures to secure its own premises and refrain from encroaching upon public space.

The order read, “It is in the interest and prestige of the institution of the army that encroachment be removed immediately, but not later than one week, i e 29-06-2018.” It further read that it would harm the institution’s reputation if the court order is executed by the CDA enforcement staff.

The order also mentioned that the CDA had not granted any permission to the security agency to block the road, adding that the blockade went against the plans developed for the city.
