ECP issues code of conduct for campaigners ahead of general elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a code of conduct for the upcoming general elections.

The code of conduct notification includes a ban on the use of panaflex, wall chalking and hoardings. The ECP has also issued fixed sizes for posters and banners used during the election campaigns.

Furthermore, the notification prohibited the use of pictures of irrelevant persons on banners.

The two-part notification also directs all stakeholders to comply with the codes and strict action will be taken against violators.

Earlier, the ECP issued a 14-point code of conduct for foreign observers and officials. According to the code of conduct, the observers are to maintain political impartiality and must avoid making personal comments regarding their observations on the election process to the media.
