OKARA: A man drowned in a canal after trying to win a bet with the wife to swim across a canal in Okara, a local media house reported.
Reports said that the man named Sanwal was out with his wife to celebrate Eidul Fitr, as couple reached the canal, the wife challenged him to swim across.
After accepting the challenge, he swam across the canal once, following that the wife insisted again in order for her to make the video.
As the man jumped into the canal for the second time, he drowned halfway through and the wife continued to make the video. According to media reports, the family is devastated by the loss of the deceased.
Following the tragedy, the wife went into shock and was rushed to the hospital for the treatment.
Separately, two boys drowned in Sahiwal and Phularwan canals on Monday.
Rescue 1122 officials said that Faisal Pathan, 9, along with his brothers, was bathing in a canal near Sultanpur Bangla when he went into deeper waters and drowned.
Meanwhile, Tajammal Hussain, 16, drowned in the Phularwan canal while bathing.
