ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary on Monday expressed reservations over the caretaker government’s progress on the electoral process.

Addressing the media, Chaudhry said that the caretaker government is “making slow progress” in conducting the election.

He further said that he wrote to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the progress of caretaker government. “But ECP did not listen to our reservations,” he said, adding that the district governments in Sindh and Punjab are still the same.

“The police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has already been de-politicised hence the district government cannot influence polls but in Punjab and Sindh the loyalists have been appointed at the top,” Chaudhary alleged.

Talking about the ongoing corruption references against Nawaz Sharif, the PTI spokesperson said that former prime minister and his lawyers are using “delay tactics”.

He also claimed that Nawaz Sharif promised former chief justice Chaudhry Iftikhar that he would make him president but later retracted from his promise. “The former CJP turned against Nawaz as a result,” he added.
