LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Wednesday formed a committee to probe the faulty construction of new Islamabad international airport and sought a report within two weeks.

The bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar passed the orders while hearing a suo motu notice over defects in the construction of newly-built Islamabad International airport.

During the proceedings, the chief justice questioned the faulty construction of the airport and asked who built it. To this, the bench was apprised that Civil Aviation got it constructed.

At this, the chief justice observed that he had heard that Chaudhry Muneer was handed over the construction. “If that is not the case, then why his name is being repeatedly coming?” he remarked.

The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the report pertaining to the airport’s construction and sought a comprehensive and concise report within two weeks.

Pakistan International Airlines CEO, Civil Aviation Authority director general and other officers were also present in the court.
