KARACHI: Asifa Bhutto, daughter of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on Tuesday did not get a ticket to contest from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in the upcoming elections.
It was reported that Asifa Bhutto can be a candidate if PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto emerges victorious on more than one seat. She had received nomination papers from NA-202.
Earlier, it was reported that Asifa is expected to contest for the National Assembly from Karachi adding that the near-unanimous decision was made during the meeting of the party’s central election board at Bilawal House.
Analysts believed that she may contest from Lyari from where Benazir Bhutto, her mother, had gained victory in 1988. Asif Ali Zardari had also won from the same constituency in the 1990 elections.
