Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced its initial lists of tickets for the 2018 general elections that included some surprise entries.

Renowned drama and film actors Sajid Hassan and Ayub Khoso will also contest elections for Karachi constituencies on PPP tickets. While Sajid Hassan has been fielded for National Assembly’s NA-256 (Karachi Central-IV), Ayub Khoso will try to win the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-101 (Karachi East-III).

Sajid Hassan has been a part of several Pakistani dramas and movies, including Maalik, Bay Qasoor, Dhoop Kinaray, Hum Tum and others. His career includes hosting a news talk show where he interviewed several politicians.

Similarly, Ayub Khoso has contributed his acting skills for several projects, like Yalghaar, Khuda Kay Liye, Chaoun, among others. He was born in Jaffarabad, Balochistan, and graduated from the University of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will contest for three seats, NA-200 (Larkana-I) and NA-246 (Karachi South-I) and NA-8 Malakand. Asif Ali Zardari will run for NA-213 (Shaheed Benazirabad-I). Former Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah has submitted his nomination papers for two constituencies, PS-80 (Jamshoro-I) and PS-34 (Naushehro Feroze-II).

It was earlier rumoured that Aseefa Bhutto Zardari will contest the 2018 polls for PS-10 (Larkana-I), however, no such announcement has been made officially. Faryal Talpur is set to run for PS-10, according to the list.

Former Sindh Assembly speaker Shehla Raza will this time contest elections for the National Assembly’s NA-243 seat in Karachi. No ticket has yet been issued to Qaim Ali Shah and Nabil Gabol.
