LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet had been using 124 official vehicles that have now been retrieved and are being kept out of the public eye.

According to a local media outlet, the vehicles are kept in the basement of the new Minister’s Block, adjacent to the Civil Secretariat.

These automobiles include three bulletproof vehicles used by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Counter-Terrorism Minister Ayub Khan Gadhi and Sports Minister Jahangir Khanzada.

A fourth was a luxury vehicle used by Primary and Secondary Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir as chairman of the Task Force on Spurious Drugs, the media report claimed.

The retrieval of these vehicles was done on the orders of the chief justice of Pakistan, from which at least 16 luxury jeeps that are not allowed to very senior government officials have also been retrieved from the public sector companies.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government officials said the ministers and the elected members of the Punjab Assembly who were allotted residences in the GORs were vacating them.

Although some former ministers have already vacated their houses, the others have until June 15 to vacate their residences.
