Sacked cop tries self-immolation at Supreme Court

The country’s highest court of justice was shocked d on Monday with the cries of a man longing for justice after he resorted to self-immolation to attract attention of the top jurist. Asad Munir, a police constable from Rajanpur facing dismissal from service, set himself alight at the main entrance of the Supreme Court building; however, the security staff managed to extinguish the fire and shifted him to hospital.
“I am a police constable dismissed from service only because I married with the cousin of Rajanpur SHO Pervez Akhtar, although he made me divorce at gunpoint,” Asad said. He said the family court and additional district and sessions judge Rajanpur decided the matter in his favour and found the SHO guilty, adding that he had minor kids.
