Early in the morning, a group of tribesmen associated with Pakhtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) attempted to resume the sit-in protest at main Chowk Mirali but they were didn’t allowed by personnel of security forces. Late on Wednesday after a crackdown against the sit-in protesters, the security forces established a check post at the main chowk of Mirali.

So far, there have been no details regarding action against the sit-in protesters at Mirali but unconfirmed reports reveal that a large number of protesters were injured when they were beaten by personnel of security forces. The injured were admitted to Military Unit Hospital. And even doctors from Civil Hospital Mirali called for the handling of the situation. So far, local tribesmen confirmed the arrest of six protesters.

Mohsin Dawar, one of the three top PTM leaders who belong to Mirali, has directed tribesmen to reassemble at main Chawk Mirali for resuming the sit-in protest started against target killing on June 2 last. Mohsin Dawar himself is going to lead the protest.

Earlier, hundreds of tribesmen from all over Mirali participated in a rally arranged by Mohsin Dawar in connection with the filing of nomination papers for a National Assembly seat at Miranshah.

Meanwhile, the situation in Wana headquarters of South Waziristan is still tense due to the imposition of a curfew or foiling further clashes between the PTM workers and government loyal former militants.
