LAHORE: Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed its grave concern over reports that at least three people were killed and 20 injured when armed assailants opened fire on a gathering of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) in Wana, South Waziristan on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday, HRCP said: “We counsel the administration to restore peace and take steps to avoid any further confrontation between PTM supporters and the armed outfits reported to be operating as ‘Aman (Peace) Committees’. The region has seen enough bloodletting: it is imperative that its people are now allowed to live in peace and stability.”
