ECP directs political parties to file list of nominations for reserved seats

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday asked all political parties to submit a list of nominated candidates in order of priority for the reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies by June 6.

In a statement, the commission called for submission of candidate forms for the seats reserved seats for women and non-Muslims to the respective Returning Officers (RO).

Election Commission of Pakistan issued the election schedule on Thursday, according to which the General Elections 2018 will be held on July 25.

PARTY CERTIFICATE:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday asked the candidates, aspiring to contest the general election under the party symbols, to submit their nomination papers along with party affiliation certificates.

A spokesman of the ECP made it clear that party symbol will not be allotted to those who failed to submit their party certificates.

RESERVED SEATS FROM KP, FATA:

Provincial Election Commissioner, Pir Maqbool Ahmed in his capacity as Returning Officer (RO) here Friday issued a public notice for the upcoming electoral schedule for the seats reserved for women and minorities in the KP Assembly and National Assembly.

A spokesman of PEC told APP that returning officers for National and Provincial Assembly seats from KP and Fata also issued public notices about the general elections 2018.

He said nomination papers can be submitted from Saturday (June 2 to June 6), adding nomination papers can be obtained from the office of PEC.

The spokesman said some of the aspirants have started obtaining nomination papers from the office of PEC on Friday.

As per elections schedule, publication of names of the nominated candidates would be issued on 07.06.2018 while the last date for scrutiny of nomination papers by the Returning Officer is 14.06.2018.

The last date for filing of appeals against decisions of the Returning Officer regarding rejecting and accepting the nomination papers is 19.06.2018 and whereas the last date for deciding of appeals by the Appellate Tribunal is 26.06.2018.

The publication of a revised list of candidates would be issued on 27.06.2018 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature and Publication of revised list of candidates is 28.06.2018.

Allotment of Election Symbols to contesting candidate will be issued on 29 June 2018 while polling would be held on July 25, 2018, in the country.

COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE ASSETS, PROPERTIES OF CANDIDATES:

A committee has been constituted to assessing property and other assets of the candidates whose participation in the forthcoming general elections expected.

The committee has been constituted by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) under the chair of FBR commissions.

The newly formed committee will also investigate the text returns and the properties owned by expected candidates.

According to FBR sources, the committee has been constituted on the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan. The core purpose of the committee would be to ensure free and fair elections and to expose corrupt politicians.

The sources said that scores of politicians didn’t pay their text and even elected as public representatives through the vote. However, the ECP didn’t yet give any deadline for the completion of the assessment of assets.

The investigation is being done and a complete report after assessments will soon be submitted in the ECP. The sources said those candidates who raised objection over the report, their concerns will be addressed.
