LAHORE: Judo players and organizers all over the country have expressed their increasing concerns at the extremely poor performance of the Pakistan Judo team that finished rock bottom in the Asian Games being held in China currently.
Mrs Samina Khan, President Pakistan Women Judo Association, said an eight-member team comprising six players and two officials failed miserably to achieve anything in these Games. All the players lost their bouts in seconds and were thrown out of the tournament in the very first round. She demanded an explanation from the Pakistan Olympics Association and the Pakistan Sports Board over the poor performances.
She stated that the same thing happened during the World Judo Championships organised in Cairo this year. The PJF sent a large contingent sponsored by the government to this event. All the players lost their bouts in the very first round and the team returned home empty-handed.
She along with other Judo officials urged the Sports ministry to order a proper investigation into the recent poor performances of the Judo team and remove unprofessional officials from the federation.
