PPP to foil PML-N bid to rig AJK polls: Firdous

Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said PPP had evolved a strategy to foil every bid of the Punjab government for rigging and sabotaging the peaceful atmosphere during the AJK Legislative Assembly general elections to be held on June 26. Addressing a public meeting at village Bhaagowal here in connection with the election campaign of Ch Shaukat Wazir Ali (LA-32, Jammu-III, the minister claimed June 26 would be the day of PPP as the party would seep the AJK polls. She urged the people to vote for PPP in the AJK elections, saying it was the only party which was working for the cause of the poor. the party of the poor and oppressed people in the country, which was the most popular party among the masses, having deep roots in all the provinces of Pakistan and AJK.
She said the PPP government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was vital to solve the Kashmir problem which had become a flash point between the two nuclear neighbours. She added Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan and time had come to resolve the dispute peacefully. She expressed complete solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said the sacrifices of thousands of Kashmiri people would soon become fruitful.
PPP Punjab President Ch Imtiaz Safdar Warraich the party was fully committed to the welfare of the poor masses. She said that the PPP government was promoting the policy of political reconciliation and taking all the main political parties into confidence to pull the country out of the exiting internal and external crisis. He said the whole nation was united against terrorism and was standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan as Islam was a religion of peace, unity and love and negated terrorism.
Former provincial minister and senior party leader Ch Ghulam Abbas claimed the PPP government was successfully implementing the agenda reforms of social and economic uplift of the masses, which would be helpful in raising their living standard. He said PPP would never allow any one to derail democracy in the country. He vowed Punjab would become a stronghold of PPP again with the help of the masses.
He appealed to all the political parties to shun their differences and cooperate with the government to establish durable peace, weeding out terrorism and eradicate unemployment and poverty from the country. No one should be allowed to derail democracy in the country, she added.
MPAs Dr Tanvirul Islam, Tahir Mehmood Hundali and local leaders, Ch Shaukat Wazir Ali, Ch Maqbool Ahmed, Nadeem Asghar Kaira, Ejaz Samma and Malik Tahir Akhtar Awan also addressed the public meeting.

INAUGURATED: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan inaugurated Pakistan Television (PTV) News Bureau Sialkot during a special ceremony here on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of PTV from Islamabad and Lahore, senior journalists and local PPP leaders. Addressing the participants, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said PTV News Bureau Sialkot had been established here keeping in view the global industrial and export significance of export-oriented city. This bureau would definitely promote the industrial and export activities of Sialkot globally besides promoting the teachings of Allama Iqbal as well. She said PTV News Bureau would prove itself a milestone towards the goal of Sialkot socio-economic and human development. It would also highlight the Kashmir cause and promote the positive social thoughts among the people.
