In October last year, it was rumoured that Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Kareena Kapoor had a catfight on the sets of their upcoming film, Veere Di Wedding. Now, as the film nears release, reports of an alleged fallout between them have resurfaced.
However, Sonam says that she finds the rumours of a rift between her and Kareena hilarious, according to Mid-day.
Speaking at the promotions for the film, Sonam said, “There’s no rivalry between us. In fact, Bebo [Kareena], me, Rhea [Kapoor] and Lolo [Karisma Kapoor] have a WhatsApp group, called The Kapoor Girls. We post each other’s yesteryear pictures on it. Bebo and I have been friends for 15 years.”
“Such gossip doesn’t bother us because we are in a secure space. Bebo and I are the third generation of actors [in our families] and we know how the media functions. We are great friends. We have made a kick-ass movie and proved that women can work with each other and get along. We had a blast [while shooting Veere],” says the 32-year-old.
Sonam and Kareena are mostly hand in hand during Veere Di Wedding promotions. Speaking at the trailer launch of the film earlier this month, Sonam had remarked, “I’m working with friends, so chemistry was not hard to achieve. Kareena is my favourite hero to work with. People expect women to pull other women down. What’s amazing is to bond together and rule the world.”
Moreso, in an attempt to put down trollers and haters, Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor also took to Instagram to share a picture of Sonam and Kareena from the latter’s wedding day with the caption, “And they say actresses can’t be friends. Couldn’t help myself. Real and reel bride. Happy girls, strong, independent, crazy talented and also just crazy. It’s been a two-year long journey and now it’s all just ten days away. #sentimentalproducer #sentimentalsister also just mental.”
Meanwhile, on her past work and upcoming projects, Sonam said, “The year started well with the success of Padman. After Veere, there’s Sanju, in which I have a cameo. I am also shooting for Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga with dad [Anil Kapoor]. I have a couple of interesting projects post that, so I am having a great time.”
