ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Climate Change in collaboration with UNDP and NDMA is providing temporary employment to men and women in the villages.
An official of Ministry of Climate Change told APP that around 47,600 families including 300,000 men and women in 300 villages directly benefited from the said project in Sindh.
While 900 people including 451 females and 449 male were given temporary employment and each person was paid a daily wage for their work, he added.
“Partnership with the government the Adaptation Fund, UNDP is supporting efforts to reduce the risk of flash floods from glacial lake outbursts in high risk areas of Gilgit and Chitral districts.
He said to overcome the dangers posed by this UNDP is integrating disaster risk reduction strategies with climate change adaptation in high risk areas.
The projects have helped the communities with livelihood and save environment and these type of projects also provided technical and financial support to the local people. A community based disaster risk management fund was also established and supported through community contribution.
